This page used to be called the virtual Koala Blue Museum but it can't be called that any more as Olivia launches her new Koala Blue wine!
When asked why the Koala Blue brand was being re-introduced, Olivia says:
"People have approached me with all sorts of business ideas. I've always said I wasn't interested. In fact, I vowed never to go into business again."
Her mind was changed, however, by successful Sydney-based businessman Sean Neylon of Snowdon Wines: Olivia and Neylon's wife met, on horseback, in Malibu and became friends.
"I agreed to do this because it was Sean, and I knew him. He's smart, he's a nice man and he's Australian," says Olivia.
"When I called Pat I didn't know if she would want to go through it again. After all, we were both left with a very bitter taste when Koala Blue unravelled.
"But she loved the idea. And especially, she loves the wine."
Koala Blue wine - initially a chardonnay and a shiraz, to be priced both in Australia and in the US at $8.95 - carries an updated version of the original cute, Ken Done-designed koala logo.
Both the red and the white - blended from South Australian and Riverlands wines - are sold in eye-catching blue bottles with coloured synthetic "corks".
The wine sells in supermarkets in Australia and in the US, and will go on sale in Coles Myer and Safeway outlets in April 2002. You can also buy the wine online here.
Pat and Olivia both claim to be fans of the easy-drinking wines.
"We simply wouldn't have done it if it had been horrible," Olivia says. "It's very nice wine - light, fruity, and very reasonably priced."
Well, send us a bottle or two Olivia, and we'll let you know if we agree with you!
